We are equipped with 4 examination rooms, a spacious reception area, a surgical suite with a heated surgical table, in-house laboratory capabilities, separate sound-buffered dog and cat areas, full-body digital x-ray and digital dental x-ray, and a fully stocked pharmacy area.

Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Ingrid Hutchins

Dr. Ingrid Hutchins

Dr. Hutchins is a native of the W. Michigan area and graduated from Michigan State University in 1992. She founded Lakeshore Animal Hospital in 1995 and is very thankful and proud that she has had the opportunity to serve her patients in the Muskegon area for over 28 years. When she is not seeing patients or managing behind the scenes, Dr. Hutchins enjoys spending time with her beagle “Georgia Peach”, traveling, reading, and horseback riding.
Dr. Carin Forberg

Dr. Carin Forberg

Dr. Forberg is originally from Muskegon and is a local graduate of Mona Shores High School. She graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and joined our practice shortly thereafter. Dr. Carin’s special interests include behavior and feline medicine. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and has completed their “Cat Friendly Veterinarian” program. In her spare time, Dr. Carin loves to spend time with her family and friends as well as travel, kayak, and snuggle with her two beautiful, spoiled kitties, Aria and Piper.
Dr. Jackie Sprague

Dr. Jackie Sprague

Dr. Sprague is a graduate of Michigan State’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She is a lifelong Michigan resident who enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking and snowshoeing in her spare time. Dr. Sprague shares her home with her husband Patrick.
Dr. Samantha Abel

Dr. Samantha Abel

Dr. Abel is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and joined Lakeshore Animal Hospital in January 2020. She was born and raised here in the beautiful state of Michigan. She enjoys traveling, geocaching, arts and crafts, and of course, experiencing new adventures with her husband and 2 children. Dr. Abel also loves snuggling with her three dogs Vash, Cosmo, and Rogue as well as her four kitties, Rose, Dorothy, Diana, and Sophia.

Dr. Chelsea Chrisman

Dr. Chelsea Chrisman

Dr. Chrisman joined the Lakeshore Animal Hospital team in December of 2020. She was born and raised a Michigander, attending Greenville High School and then graduating from Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Dr. Chrisman graduated from Michigan State’s Veterinary Program, earning her DVM degree, in May 2020. She has a special interest in feline medicine and has obtained the “Cat Friendly Veterinarian” certificate through the American Association of Feline Practitioners. In her spare time, Dr. Chelsea likes to spend time with her husband Josh, and young son Dean, along with her 3 cats Autumn, Summer, and Iris. Her favorite thing to do is get lost in a good book!

Dr. Emily Geldersma

Dr. Emily joined Lakeshore Animal Hospital in August of 2024. She graduated in 2017 from Michigan State University. Her love for vet med is boundless, but her greatest enthusiasm is connecting with her clients and problem solving for their pets who do not have a voice.
Dr. Emily enjoys yoga, gardening, hiking, kayaking and outdoor adventures with her husband and baby girl. She also has a beautiful quarter horse, “Kid”, a sweet little whippet “Dax” (shown), a kitty cat named “Chassie” and a cute pair of budgies!!
